Replacing the oil pan with 4wd gear torn out.

This is an 88 FI 2.8L? v6 jimmy.

Not getting much love in the Jimmy forum, so I'll try here. This is a dirt road only vehicle, not worth more than $200 so keep that in mind. Looking to remove the oil pan without removing the motor.

Ok, after chopping through the front axles, and contorting our tools and ourselves to many odd positions, the front diff assembly is removed. The front DS is gone as well. These will make handsome lawn ordiments. Now we have a good view of the oil pan. Now it looks like we need to disconnect the tranny bellhousing from the engine to remove the oil pan. Is this right? I never thought removing the pan would be such a huge ordeal (I have a jeep YJ, and it was super simple).

Any advice/tips/words of encouragement for us? Oil pan needs to be removed so it can either be replaced or the holes welded.

No, you don't need to disconnect the tranny, but you do have to lift the engine up at least 8 inches to get it out (unless you cut out the front crossmember then it will be only 3 inches and you can bring it out through the front)

Grr, damn you GM for making your oil pan unaccesable. I'll have to go back and take a look. I'll update when I get this happening.
