HI again....(Im trying to rise above my newby status!)
I call this pic "FISHTAILIN", and it is a 1971 HEMI 'cuda (driven by a 'cuda), hes set the hook on the throttle and the rear end of the car is getting fishy! (fishtailing) This pic is probably my favorite match of the car and character driving. Drawn freehand with prismacolor pencils and feltpens.
Thanks for looking, Vince

who cares about an axle?
It's a style thing. It works for him and visually it works in the toon. Why worry about an axle when there's a gnarly slobby dude bustin out the top. lol
seriously
great work
great style
would like to see a larger post just so we can see the detail.
how bout doin a wip?
nice work

Really like the whole "fish" theme to this Cuda-toon.
There is a feel to your work, kind of like BDR's art.

Its hard to decide how much detail to put in the drawing, (I already spend too many hours on each one!). I have done a couple drawings with a "gasser" style chrome straight axle in front, but Im not sure if that looks right on any type of car. Its really tricky to draw the A-arms, shocks, springs, etc. and not get too much clutter. I also leave off details like fuel lines, throttle linkages, door handles, mirrors. Im still trying to figure out the best way to go about it.

I like the balance you've chosen in the level of detailing.
These are toons, not renderings, and you are the one creating the "toon reality" for their world.

Thanks! Ive been told the lack of suspension makes the car look like its "coming totally un-glued", that was from a friend with a Camaro that use to drop the clutch at 7000 rpms....Ive always wondered if I could capture the "feel" of that on paper, when the car is hooking sideways with the tires roasting! Now I drive a vanagon...so much for the feel of raw horsepower!
