That is really cool isn't it? The best I've ever gotten out of my car is about 31 mpg, but I'm hoping to see more here in a couple weeks when I drive across the country. Then again, I have a DOHC so I don't get as good mileage as you.

For the bugs, just make sure you try to get them off before they sit for too long. I find just going back and forth over them with a nice soapy car wash works well. Sometimes though I have to take a power spray thing to the bumper.

Power sprayer at the local do-it-yerself carwash. Unless you have one of your own...

I don't think under-reving saves gas...the car has to throw in more fuel to make less power than normal, unless your coasting down a hill

i drove from charlotte nc (lower side of NC) to my current residence, binghamton ny on ~25 dollars worth of gas.. i put 7 bucks worth of premium in @ the petro express in cornelius (i had about a 1/4 tank) and drove that all the way to the top of virginia, where i put another 10 bucks worth of premium in, which got me to like, the upper part of PA, where i topped it off again (dont remember how much i put in) but i got home and still had about 1/4-1/2 a tank left..now, this is with my car full to the brim w/ all my shit from nc (4 computers, monitors, clothes, bedding, etc etc etc)
i <3 honda.

Well they don't shift at 2k in the reviews. Lower rpm=less gas used.

oh that's nothin. Friend of mine drives a honda and he gets 60 mpg city all the time :)

Course its a Honda INSIGHT!!

I wish so much I had the $$ for one of those...

Hey shouldn't they be hitting the used car market by now?

anyways, my civic gets like 25 mpg normally, but its all city driving. Most I ever got was 28 going to hotsprings, but it needed a tune up then so I bet I could hit 30mpg. Good to know someone actually uses there Honda for what its made for!! :D

I just checked my mileage a couple of days ago. I got 38.25 mpg, and I drive an automatic. I can live with that.

that big wing is what kills your gas mileage :p :p

y'know, you are probably right. That and hitting 7000rpms nearly every day, mixed with having to blast the a/c because its so freaking hot down here...

meh, I don't drive far. I fill up every 2-3 weeks. I just don't drive the civic much.

but dude, I was getting ~20 mpg too, then I had my engine "cleaned" and had some stuff put in it and now it gets normally 25-26. Do that, take it down to Honda, it didn't cost much.

actually, i just had my 18,000 mile service done, and best friend took his 98 lx sedan in for the 40,000 mile service a month or two ago.

I do a mix of city/freeway driving, but most of my city is built into hills, so i'm basically always going up, or down. In addition, the car doesnt have too much torque, meaning that it uses more gas to get itself up the hills that I drive through on my way to school everyday.

Most of my other friends with civics get about the same mileage as I do.

I get crappy mileage in my 94ex anywhere from 18-20 mpg by my estimates, but I drive around in stop and go hell and I would say my average shifting point would be around 3500-4k, 5k if I'm trying to get ahead of the masses (which I never do by the way since there is always more mass up ahead lol)

About a week ago I got a valve lash adjustment, timing belt replacement, and both cv joints replaced at the dealer 600.00 dollars worth which isn't bad considering all I had done. I replaced my spark plugs, fuel filter, air filter etc etc. myself not too long ago but my mileage downright sucks.

I have heavy 17 inch rims, the usual kyb agx, eibach sport suspension mods, and I removed my reasonator. I'm starting to think my 17 inch rims are causing my crappy mileage since I didn't have this much of a problem before.

I heard some talk once regarding an O2 sensor being faulty which could cause crappy gase mileage also, anyone have any exp with this ?
