99 tahoe electrical trouble

I have a 99 tahoe 4dr. lt
The dash lights or more specifically the radio lights are not working,also the dome light stays on unless you depress the overide switch.
Is the radio light problem a indication of a short?
In my 98 Sierra my the radio lights were almost out and when I cleared a short in the alarm wiring the lights came back on.

I'm having the same problem with the radio lights. I just figure it's time for a new player.
