the 3sgte will always be better than any zz engine. sure you could mod a zz to be better but put that $ in a 3sgte and it will be better. inn the 3sgte you not only have super strong internals and an iron block you also have that .2l displacement advantage.

yeah but you cant find a newer 3sgte engine now-a-days. There all going to be way used.

ZZ are lighter as well. More compact. And much more available. Probably not as durable though. I guess it really depends on the build.

Yeah and they are newer. So they have to be more advanced in technology. Maybe not as durable but cooler too.

In a 7th gen 1zz > 3S-GTE.

If you swap in the 3S-GTE, it will kill the handling characteristics of the car because of the huge increase of weight on the front end. Go with the turbo 1zz.

Here's a quote from Smaay over at newcelica.org. He is one of the most knowledgable people on the site.

Get off the 3S-GTE bandwagon....you gotta remember the 3S is a heavy ass motor and in stock trim is slow...My MR2 was pushing 17psi making about 250WHP and an all motor GT-S pulled on me like i was standing still...you will have to spend about 5-6 grand on the motor itself to make big power...then 10 grand to get it in the f'ing car!!!

Im not a 3S hater, you should know that i have an All-Trac...that has a 3S-GTE in it...i just know by experience what it takes to make a 3S-GTE powerful...and stock it isnt...

Wow, thats good. So he is saying just stick with the zz instead of wasting my time on the 3s-gte?

if ur talkin about swapping a 3s into a 7th gen then id say no just stick with the 2zz but motor for motor i would have to say 3sgte.

Unless you can get yourself an aluminum block 3sgte.... woah, imagine that...

Just import one from japan, big swap shops will do it for you. Cost like 4~5K just for a 3SGE Beams swap and then another 3~4K for a turbo setup. You could go broke real fast building up a new alluminum 3S
