I have a 99 Dodge Ram 1500 it has big tires and is lifted 6 inches. Well just the other day it started acting up. It felt like it was in neutral as I was driving and it would not shift. It is went to 3000 rpms and would not speed up, just sounded like it was in neutral. I took it to a tranny shop and they told me there was absolutely nothing wrong with the tranny. Therefore, I had it services and was on my way. Well the next day it got worse so I took it back and they looked at it again and said that there was nothing wrong with it. So they kept it for further analysis and said that the 4x4 drive line had to be taken out so it is in the back of my truck and it still runs the same Does anyone have any suggestions????? HELP!!

take it to a different trans shop.
first off, the front drive shaft being in or out will not effect the transmission shifting in any way, so there was no reason for them to take it out.
it sounds to me like something is slipping, either the TC, or something inside the trans itself. also, sense the trans shop techs can't seam to find the problem, try taking one of them along (wile you drive) and point out the problem, that way they can't say "we couldn't find anything wrong."

also, did you re-gear the axles when the lift and larger tires were put on? if not, the extra size of the tires could have cooked the trans.

Thank you! I will take it to another shop. These guys I took it to are highly recommended. I am surprise they are telling me it is not the tranny. I mean if it is they are missing out on some big bucks! I have taken to them like 3 times and each time they tell me that there is absolutely nothing wrong. DO you have any recommendation of tranny shops? I live in Oregon.
