Smells like a scam to me, but i want a second opinion.
I e-mail this guy selling a GSX on e-bay, and here is what he said...
There are no bidder because the person that im talking to asked me to remove them so he can be sure that he will be the only approved buyer, a little strange, hope everything will be ok. If i will have any problems with him i will let you know and we can discuss. Anyway i will give you some details about it. The car is in perfect condition, no accidents. The car was never raced or abused. It has clear US title, it is registered in US. The car is in perfect working condition. The price that I'm looking for is somewhere around 8000$ but the reason that I'm accepting this low price is because I'm in Italy with my job, for a 2 year contract and the insurance fees for a US registered car is killing me . Anyways before i send it i want a deposit of 2000$ and we will use a local shipping company that i trust www.web-shipping.com. The deposit will be payed to the company, not to me. I will have access to the money only when the car will be shipped to you I will pay for the s&h costs. The transport and the payment will be fully insured and you will be able to test it before completing the rest of the payment. Waiting for your reply.
What do you guys think?

this is what they said on the e-mail. i don't know if it was scam or not but i decided not to reply or do anything about it,
hey there,
Since this is an over seas purchase and in order for both parts to be
safe
we will use a third party, Square Trade, to make this deal. I will
support
the Square Trade fees. From the moment that you will decide that you
want to
move ahead with the transactoin I will open a transaction record at
square
trade and the will get in touch with you. They will work as a third
party
and they will make excchange between us. If you don't want to keep the
car,
just inform Square Trade and they will send you the money back as soon
as
you send the car back to me (this is not the case, as the car is as
described, in perfect condition). In case you don't receive the car
(this is
not the case to) Square Trade will refund you the money, 100%. Square
Trade
won't give me the money until they have your word that you have
received the
car and you want to keep it. You will have 5 days to test the car.
I will manage the shipping of the car at no cost for you. You will pay
only
the price of the car, 3,500.00 + the money transfer fess to square
trade.
You won't have to make the payment with the total amount,i will arrange
just
to pay a deposit of 1,000 usd to Square Trade,so i could start the
shipping
procedure.
In order to move ahead with this transaction I will be needing your
full
name and the shipping address where you want the car shipped so I can
open a
new transaction record at square trade and get them in touch with you.
They will provide you all the details on how to proceed with payment.
Thank you for your time
Hope to hear from you soon.
Best regards,
Monica

I think anytime the "seller" says anything about him, or the car being overseas, that's the red flag for a scam.

I agree! Also be aware that the guy had the car listed as "8000$" not "$8000". If you go on ebay you will see many scammers list it this way! Also if it seems, or they act like they cannot speak English, it is also a scam!
Please be VERY careful!
I once saw a 2004/5 BMW M3 (my absolute DREAM car) on ebay for "8500$". It was an absolute SCAM, luckily I never proceeded with paying him the money!
Please be VERY careful!

I wish people werent so god damn stupid. I tried to sell my mom's friend's quilt on eBay. Some lady from Taiwan emailed us saying she really needed the quilt and had a $2500 money order ready for us and we were supposed to take the money we wanted for the quilt and send the rest back with the quilt. We told her ok as long as she used eBay to buy it. Never heard from her again.

The first time I tried selling something on ebay, I tried to sell a PS2 game and for more than it was worth. Well within the first hour of being on there it sold via the Buy Now icon. They emailed me asking me how much it would cost me to send the game to Nigeria as a birthday present. I asked what the address was so I could actually price it even though I didn't want to ship across seas but it was my first sale and I was willing to make it work but they emailed me back saying it needs to be shipped to Nigeria. Before I could respond again I got an email from ebay saying that they were reported for providing false information about them selves. I'm guessing that they were some kids being retarded and thought it was funny to mess with people. O Well.

Yes all this overseas stories are 100% scams. I saw a 1999 Eclipse GSX 40,xxx thousand miles with light mods perfect condition and when I asked for the price the guy said $5000. He told me to deposit $1000 immediatly and that after that he would sent me the car. I said I wanted to come and see the car since I told him I was in Europe and I was close by and give him $5000 cash. Never heard from him again. Then I see the car for sale again a couple of weeks later. I used my friends account and asked for adress so i can check out the car and also never heard again from him. The bidder who won the car the second time told me that he sent the money but never heard from the guy, he never got his car either. He is trying to get his $1000 back. Whne you see a too good to be true deal and they want large sums of deposit and also saying that the car is or they are somewhere far it usually means its a bs scam.
Also I was looking at a Supra for 8K with pushing more than 800hp, nitroes body kit and almost everything you can imagine and the guy said he was in Italy. I ask for more pics and I compared the fist pics with the second and it wasnt the same Supra. Then I find out that this Supra is REALLY for sale but by another kid and the price is $90.000
but this first guy is just trying to scam people and saying its actually his.
Best way to buy a car is WHEN YOU GO TO SEE the car IN PERSON and talk to the owner. Buying a car from EBAY is dangerous since you actually never seen how the car works and never checked it yourself. When you buy a car, you want to actually test drive it and examine it.
Good luck but I would never buy a car I havent driven from EBAY.

That's deffinitely a scam. When I was selling my Honda I received this one guy "from Italy" who was going to send me the money in payments and blah blah blah. He asked for my number and address to send the payment but it was all a fraud. With that info. he broke into my ebay/paypal/yahoo/hotmail accounts and started messing with my stuff. I found his number one day and called it and the guy sounded like a crackhead(literally). He stalked me for maybe 3 months... :uhoh: Stay away from those freeks!

I got my car from eBay, no problems at all for $5500, when the blue book was like $8300. So you can get screwed, but you can also get good deals, just becareful. Like I said before, I wish people werent so fuckin stupid.

DEFFINANTLY a scam. Sounds almost exactly like what a guy told my friend. The guy was selling a Supra for 8k but he was in some other country (can't remember where) and he required a $2,000 deposite and then it would be shipped. My friend was like HELL NO! SCAM!!!!!!
