I just bought a 93 Ford probe. I did a Oil change With 10w40 I have read that I should use 5w30? before I did the Oil change there was no noise coming from the engine. the noise sounds like it is coming from a Lifter. it make the noise after driving it. also Oil gauge is broken I think Or is it post to stay on low? Also if it is a Lifter what am I going to have to do to fix it? also this car has been sitting for over three months. any help would be very appreciated

It could be a piston slap from where it has been seting. If it is the lifters you could do it your self or take it to a shop to get it checked. But to get to the lifters you will have to take the vavle covers off to get to them next take the rockers off then you will see the lifters. But if you dont wanna fuck your Ford up you should get a shop to do it u never know it could be simple or not so simple your choice Brp.

I have read oil pump goes out on these cars . I can do most of the work. I'm just not sure if it is the oil pump or just a Lifter

i doubt it's the oil pump. To fix your low oil reading, i would reccomend cleaning up the oil pressure sensor. (it's on the front of the engine w/ a (blue?) rubber cover surrounding it, take the cover off, pull out the little guy (don't take the whole thing off no need to) and sand the connector) sorry for all the ()()() might be a little confusing lol. Anyway, it's probily an hla tick. Very common. 5w-30 is reccommended. And the car will run the best off of it, but i know people running up to 50 weights in this car, so... idk. I only run 0w-30-10w-30

i had the same problem on my 2.2 turbo mx-6 it was the lifters.. i used something called honey oil, which thickens the oil. another thing check to see if yout lifters are adjustable. could be a simple adjustment.. honey is definetly worth a shot. solved my lifter problem
