difference between a 00 Celica Gt/GT-S

I was looking around for a Celica GT-S but i couldn't find one, all i could find was GT's... but i'm gonna hafta settle for a car soon so, what's the major differences between the GT and the GT-S other than the 40hp adv. with the GT-S...is the GT really that much slower and if anyone could tell me the 1/4, 0-60 times of a GT and a GT-S i'd appreciate it...i also heard the GT responds quicker? Of course the GT and GT-S would be manual...and could a GT keep up with a GSR?

well basically, the gts has a better head desighn and flows better and it has vvti-l(toyotas vtec). they both have about the same torque so they respond about the same. the gts will run high 14s in the 1/4 while the gt will run high 15s to low 16s. i dont think the gt will keep up with a gsr but a gts will beat it easily.

so the 00' and up Celica GT doesn't have vvt-i???

yes, but it doesnt have vvti-l which is variable valve timing and lift. the gt has vvti which is variable valve timing. the gts has vvti-l. vvti is just an advanced valve control thing and vvti-l is where at a certain rpm it kicks in and the valves open wider for more air and fuel.

so there's no kick in the GT at higher rpms? that sucks, is there any way to get the vvti-l into the GT?

I think if you want to do all that it would be better to just get the gts.

Other than the engine, the GT-S comes standard with many options that the GT from a dealrship cannot. (You could always install this afterwards, of course) Such as: lthr wrapped steering wheel, optional lthr seats, and race car pedals.
Then, the GT-S comes standard with premium sound system, rear windhsield wiper, 4-wheel disc brakes, cruise control, pw, pdl, fog lights,alloys. Unlike the first group of options, one could order their GT with the latter.
Depends on what u value in a car.
