I am by no means a mechanic or even close to being knowledgable when it comes to car repair.
I don't know what happened. My wife and I were coming home from dinner and we were sitting at a red light. The car was driving fine, no ligts, warnings, etc.... The light turned green and we started to proceed through the intersection but the car just lost power and would not move half way into the intersection. I press the gas and nothing happened....I turned the car off and it would not start back up. It makes the sound like it's going to start but just won't turn over.
I checked the battery cables to make sure they were secure. We have a full tank of gas, literally just bought right before dinner so we had not even driven 5 miles since filling up. I dont know what to do..
It is a 2003 Malibu, V-6, and it has 68K miles on it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated....
Thank you,
Phillip Lee

Since you say this is over your head, get it to a reputable shop, what else would you do here.

Wow, that just happened to me. I got 60k miles. I wonder if this is typical. It has all the symptoms of bad/no gas/clogged fuel filter.

its possible for it to have water in in the gas . the water will block the injection, try putting a bottle of drygas in it. theres a little cap on the left side of the intake, on the end of the fuelbar"usually" , it looks like a tire valve. take of the cap, and turn the key on and push the little pin in the valve with your nail or a pen or something, anyway you will know it your getting fuell cause it will shoot out of the valve. if theres no fuel, check the relay for the fuel pump, switch it with another relay. if that doesnt work its prob. the feul pump itself. i do roadside and i dont encounter many 03's with bad pumps

Same thing happened to me last week. Left it idling for 5 minutes while i went into Pizza Hut to pick up an order. Came outside and it was dead. Culprit: Fuel Pump.

Turn the ignition key to run, do you hear the fuel pump run for 2 seconds?

it wont turn over like teh battery is dead? or it wont turn over like it just wont start? if its the battery thing, have someone check out the alternator and battery if its that. if its not that have a shop check it out, not to step on your toes but its probably not something you yourself can fix easily.
