Ok, im going to be getting a high flow cat soon, BUT which one should i get. I have a magnaflow muffler, so .. should i get the magnaflow high flow cat or the high flow cat off the j body performance page.

J-body:http://www.jbodyperformance.com/new/PartDetails.php?partId=233&catId=233&catName=JP0233

Thanks in advance

it really shouldn't matter a whole lot, just go w/ the Magnaflow because that's a trustworthy name.....personally i would get the cheaper of the two......

why are you getting that?Youll see like 3 HP. Buy something else that actually will make a difference.

I have this one. I like the sound of it. I'm not sure if I gained anything with it, but the sound of it along with my muffler sounds hella nice.

you could ditch the cat entirely...but if its a fairly new OBD2 Cavvy, you'll have to get a resistor clip for your secondary 02 sensor....but if you have smog tests, not a good idea....

Performace difference between a high flow cat and no cat likely would not be noticable. There isn't much price difference between a high flow and more conventional, so just go with a high flow and be done with it.

Im told that if i purchase the magnaflow direct fit cat for my 2003 ecotec, my check engine light will be on permanently...is this true? If so is there any converter i can buy where it wont be on?

i live in WI and there are no test ever couple of years to make sure ur not polution to much or what ever.. most of the cars/trucks are running no cats.. i just want a cat so no internal parts take a shit on me..ie rings.. due to a lack of back pressure.. thats how i blow up the motor in my old truck..

whatever people told you about backpressure is such a load of shit....i hate when people say that if you take of the cat or get straight pipes that you're going to burn the rings out or wreck the exhaust valves......think of how and engine works and then think about how the muffler/cat works and its not even possible to wreck the rings or valves!!

Just get another cat and be done w/ it!

blew up a motor because of no cat wtf! man the shit is getting deep here. What size motor did you have in your truck? was it a ford?

you blew up the motor in your truck because of some other problem...the cat didn't do anything to wreck the engine. If you knew anything about engines, you'd see how it isn't possible for the cat to do that much damage to anything internal. The only way it could is if the cat was completely sealed and didn't let the exhaust escape.

I've built different exhaust systems for people and none of them have had any problems....i built an exhaust system on my Civic and never had any troubles. I had a 4-2-1 header, no cat just a test pipe, and a 2.5 straight pipe.....i had no problems at all.....

i ran a hornet car with exhaust going to the front doors. It ran for two seasons no problem with the motor.

the reason it blow up was due to the rings. they seized up and such, it was a 83 chevy 305 that ran strong til the rings seized up. An automatic with true dual just exhast tubbing from the manifold back.

Ever watch drag racing?I don't know about you but I have never seen a top fuel dragster or funnycar have cats hanging off their headers. For that fact never seen cats on anything going down the quarter mile.So the no cat=engine damage seems bunk to me.Back to the subject.High flow cats are basically straight pipes anyway.A small version of a cherry bomb. That's why the check engine light will stay on,cause the high flow cat doesn't do anything compared to the stock.
