My son is looking for an inexpensive fuel efficient vehicle. So he is looking at 4 cyl 5 speed models of these two vehicles. I currently drive a Saturn Vue V6 with the Honda power train and he has previously driven a Tiberon, which was a great car.
Anyone else go through this same consideration. If so let us know why you chose the Tuscon. Thanks.

We looked at many SUV's before choosing the Tucson. We test drove the Jeep Liberty CRD (Which we LOVED, but couldn't afford), the Saturn Vue (not impressed), Kia Sportage (again, not impressed - didn't like the look either), Honda CR-V (too boxy, lots of wind resistance)...
The Tucson was our second choice next to the Liberty - we didn't want the gas guzzler Liberty, which we could have afforded, but the mileage was awful.
So far the Tucson has been great. We bought it in July, and have about 7000 miles on it so far - drove it 2000 miles over Thanksgiving with no problems. We have the GL version - 4 cylinder, which has been good on gas. It is not as powerful climbing hills as a V6 would be, but it does just fine.
If you're not looking for something to haul a lot of heavy stuff in, the Tucson is a vehicle I would highly recommend - plus the warrantee is great.
Just my opinion - good luck with whatever you choose.

I also looked at the Vue. I hear the resale value isn't very good, if you're one who buys a new car every two or three years. I passed it up. I don't like how the front looks. I also looked at the Equinox. I passed it up, too, for the same reasons as the Vue.
