I recently was drving and it seemed as though my tranny was slipping a little from the start almost like a sputter maybe... When accelerating it would subside, utill i would start out slow again... Then i noticed that my SES light came on...i went to the Chevy dealership right away and proceeded to tell them what was happening. They drove it and then put the diagnositc on it and came back and said that it was a engine miss fire code, not thinking i didnt ask them what the code was. But they said that is normal and suggested that i get a tranny flush, which i did and after that they said they have seen alot worse looking fluid(101,000) and that there were no alarming amout of shavings in the fluid. Assuming they must have drove it, because they said it seemed to have cleared it...Leaving the dealership it ran, shifted and drove smooth...Untill i got into it today and it did the same thing...untill it warmed up then i didnt notice it,one thing that i have read is that a remote car starter may have something to do with it but im not sure... I have replaced before this has happend,,,, spark plugs, intake manifold gasget, oil pressure sending unit, oil cooling lines, front a rear u joints, fuel filter, then only thing that i have done diffrent lately is running diffrent gas in it....i normaly run Bp gas or amaco gas same thing...but put shell gas into it.....so im really not sure what could be wrong... i do live in SD so it has been cold if that has anything to do with it .......PLEASE help

A SES light and a misfire is not normal!
Is the light coming on now? If so get the code pulled and post it here.
When you do, give as much info as you can..ie: cold, hot, intermittant all the time,

It sounds like you have sticking injector poppets..there is a procedure to unstick them..have your dealer reference TSB 00-06-04-003B

If you think of anything else i should ask them let me know....i know that it seemed as though they thought what the code was is normal.....and then it was like well you should just do a flush which costed 200 bucks.....but anyway it will help when i get the code if indeed the documented it......with my luck they didnt

Merlin do you have any idea what i would cost the have that done...would the ac delco fuel treatment work or does that ruin the 02 sensors...i thought i have read something about injector cleaner ruining the 02 sensors......

The procedure outlined in the TSB is an involved one and will run you in the 150-200 dollar range for the unsticking procedure..if you need the MFI update, the parts run about 450....(don't hold me to that price..this is just an estimate)
Fuel treatments and injector cleaners WILL NOT unstick the poppets and in this case would be a waste of your hard earned cash.
Some injector cleaning solvents MAY contaminate the O2 sensors.
If you use TOP TIER gasoline and a Techron additive at every oil change this should be sufficent to prevent fuel system concerns

Tell the dealer to follow the TSB and fix it right the first time.
The vehicle must be properly diagnosed! This involves determining if the poppets are indeed stuck..this will cause a cold misfire as you described.
There are several things that will cause a misfire and they must be ruled out.
The poppets on these trucks are subject to hydrocarbon build ups that will cause them to stick..this causes a lean condition and a misfire..usually starts as a cold concern, but can become severe enough to create a no start condition.
I personally have performed this procedure many times with great success.
Injector cleaner WILL NOT fix your concern...all you are doing is wasting your money!
Injector cleaner will not work because the poppets are stuck closed and the cleaner cannot get past the ball and seat..this is the reason the unstick procedure in the TSB must be performed..High pressure nitrogen is injected into the poppet..this forces the ball to move of the seat and frees up the poppet.

Thank merlin...Today i had them do a injecter poppet cleaning which costed 120 buck 150 with the bad plug wire...But why they suggested the tranny flush when they said today...that the first time the put it on the scanner it said a random missfire code but noted that two were worse then others,,,, then tell me that they suggest a tranny flush... im in the process of making a rucus... that should have not been the thing done...they should have know that it could be the injecters.... thanks again merlin

Do not have the trans flushed..especially on a higher mileage vehicle..could cause some problems.

So should you never have the tranny flushed? And by flushed to you mean oil changed as well?

Hello tajah , If you have recently had a remote starter installed in your Tahoe, check to see that the 2nd ignition wire was hooked up, this wire will be the white wire from the igition switch and if not hookup will cause your CHECK ENGINE light to come on and the vehicle will feel sluggish and won't shift properly. :)
