My 02 Rodeo is running hot; not to the point of losing fluid but high temp at long idle and needle goes to middle after accelerating. After driving about 10 miles today the upper hose is warm to the touch. Any suggestions? Also just changes the oil w 10w40 (in GA) was that a no-no?

Not sure if the 2.2L has a fan clutch like the 3.2L/3.5L, but your symptoms sound like this may be your problem.

Temp gauge reading to the middle is perfectly normal. I would also expect your engine to be warm after 10mi of driving. As an unrelated note, if you want your 2.2L to live a long happy life, the most important thing you can do is changeout the timing belt every 30-40K miles! She's a valve crasher and a hard one at that.

The fans seems to work fine (all the time). Thought maybe the thermostat until I read a thread that talked about where it was located (in the intake???). I was really lost then...Thanks for your input..

Well, it's time I had the timing belt replaced then. Didn't have any trouble until "check engine" came on and my daughter told me it was blowing white exhaust........Thanks for you input...I try to be a DYI but I may need to have the pro's look at this!

If your Rodeo is blowing white smoke out of the exhaust (and overheating) you may actually have a bad head gasket. :2cents:
