OK this is going to sound screwed up but here it goes. I was up at my uncles cabin for a few hours and when i was about to leave (around midnight) he has this big hill there which looks like a big hole in the ground that when i was backing out, i slid down it i couldnt drive out cause there was like 5 inches of snow on the ground so my uncle and my dad try driving out, while they were doing that my car sounded like it was missing. We finall got it out and i drove it home. It would surge for like 10-15 seconds and quit then the service engine light would come on. I plan on going to town tomorrow and i dont know what to pick up for parts. Its a 2000 GTP

Get it scanned for the codes first.

That's the easiest way to find out. And most auto parts store will do it for free. And you save money getting the right parts the first time around.
Good luck.

I got it scanned. It was a Cylinder #3 Misfire. I got 6 new Bosch Platinum +4 spark plugs. It fixed the problem but it still chugs a little bit likes it misfiring. What do you guys think is going on now?

When was the last time you changed plug wires. They are one of the misfire culprits that are often overlooked. If you have good plugs then you need the voltage to fire them. If the wires are bad that won't happen!

I never changed the plug wires. Thats what ill probably do next. If them dont fix the problem, what do u think could be the problem?

Bad coil! But I bet the wires will correct the problem.

I hope the wires do the trick because I almost got beat by my friend's 3.1 Grand Am. It usually acts up when i accelerate hard and easing into the throttle

My Camaro was doing the exact same thing and the code scanned as a cylinder 2 misfire. The car would idle perfect but under acceleration it would miss (especially in humid or rainy weather). Got a new set of good plugs and wires and it ran beautifully.

Yea i just got the plugs changed. Now the car almost has its power back. Now i need to get a motor vac and change the fuel filter and i think thats it
