Need Opinion!!!

ok i was just offered a 97 taurus with 70,000 miles for 100 dollars, the only thing wrong with it is the tranny is out.. im thinkin i get a used tranny for under 600 dollars.. how hard will that be to put in myself... i have swapped honda motors before so im thinking swapin the tranny in this wont be that hard.. any help would be great thanks!!

not very fun . its much easier if you have a lift so you can lift the car up.if you attempt it on the ground, its a real pain in the ass.when i do them i use an engine support from the top, and remove the subframe from the bottom. once the subframe is out of the way its not to bad, unless of course you're doing it on the ground, it can be pretty difficult to manage the tranny with just a floor jack, but its possible

Thumbing through a Chilton or Haynes manual might give you more detailed pic's and a step by step.
