My GFs regal with the 3800 isn't getting spark to at least one of the cylinders. I haven't had time to really look it over in detail but I'm thinking that it is either a bad wire or a coil pack. My question is: How would one go about changing out a coil pack? I have never done that before and I really don't want to mess things up any more than they already are. Also while I'm at it are there any brand type of plugs/wires that work better in the 3800 than others? I know that in my S-10 that the bosch platinum plugs don't work worth crap. I'm planning on replacing her plugs and wires with AC Delco parts but I thought I would ask for some suggestions. I would appreciate any comments/ideas that you may have.

To change the coil on the 3800 is as simple as removing two screws from the coil itself, lift it off and replace with a new one. Tighten the bolts and you are back in service. As for plugs the AC delco plugs are a good choice. There is nothing wrong with autolites or champion plugs either. Most folks running plugs in their supercharged 3800's like autolites. OEM wires are also good although some of the aftermarket wires are acceptable as well. MSD are excellent but expensive. If I were you I would just put an OEM set back on. Check rockauto.com or gmpartsdirect.com for better prices than the local dealer.
