I have a 1996 eagle talon ESI. The car runs great but when I let off the gas while I am in gear or neutral (but the car has to be moving) I hear a fairly loud clicking sound. I cant pinpoint it since it does it only while the car was in motion. I first thought I needed my maunual tranny fluid(or oil i think it is) filled and flushed but I can also hear the noise when i am out of gear and coasting at 30mph. Any advice you guys could give would be great my knowledge is very limited.
PS: THERE IS NO NOISE WHEN I ACCELERATE JUST WHEN I LAY OFF THE THROTTLE

Can you describe where this noise could be coming from. Does it sound like it could be coming from the tranny?

Have someone stand by the car as you drive by and see if they can run aside it or something and see if they can pinpoint it. Sounds like tranny. Are you braking when the sound happens? Could be brakes. My rotors and pads were terrible. They would actual click when not on them.

Are your lug nuts loose? Mine were loose once and I couldn't understand where the clicking was coming from I thought that it was a loose caliper or something cause I just changed my rotors.
Have you done any work on the car recently? How long have you had this click?

lug nuts are good this clicking started about three days ago its funnt because it goes away when i let off the gas...i cannot pinpoint it but it sounds like its coming from the tranny, but i cant figure out why it would make the noise when i give it gas....there is no clicking if my car is A. parked and idling B. in moton and on the gas I was thinking maybe a throw out bearing but you cant hear anything when you change gears im prettty stummped on this one

is it a rod knock? does it get worse and worse all the time? if it does you might wanna check your rod bearings.

could be a wheel bearing, try wiggling your wheel up and down while jacked up. If theres a lot of play in it is probably that.
