97 Ranger 4.0 tire reccomendations

I need to put tires on this truck, 97 Ranger 4X4 4.0, what will fit without modifications, and do I need new rims? I was thinking 33's, how will the engine handle this? Will it bog it down?

the biggest you could go with stock susp is a 31"x10.50. a larger tire size will change the gear ratio wich will result in less rear wheel HP.

i have a 1992 Ford Ranger 4X4 STX i have 3inch body lift with 31's. can't get any bigger or i'll need to lift it up more. so stick with 31

i know this is an old thread...but would you have to have a lift to put 31's on...if so how big of a lift...
