well i know that neons tend to have weak transmissions and i tend to have a lead foot and uhhh well yeah here's what i messed up :)
1: speedometer
2: automatic transmission
3: overheats easily (i didnt do that)
4: very slow cold start (wasnt me either)
I was accelerating one day and then all of a sudden the speedometer droped to 0 every now and then it'll work fine til i get up to about 50 or 60 or so then it drops to 0
as for the transmission when i accellerate slowely it will often vibrate violently and when i change into second it will grind every now and then as well if i push the petal all the way down though it doesn't do it at all
BUT when i have the petal all the way down all the time it makes it overheat easily causing me to break down in THE MIDDLE OF THE DAMN ROAD doing the embarrassing walk of shame pushing it to somewhere safe till it cools down then it works fine again
I also usually have to wait 20 or so seconds for it to start after it's been sitting for a few hours i think it has something to do with the fuel pump idk
Well i guess it's not that bad of a deal considering i payed like 500 for it and it get's me to work and everything but i was planning on making it a lil faster but idk if it's worth all the money now if anyone knows any enexpensive ways to fix my problems i'd love to hear them

You probably messed up the tranny by doing that. The tranny is reliable if you take care of it, meaning checking fluids, keeping the bands adjusted, and making sure you are adding the correct fluid, which should only be Mopar ATF+3 or 4.
You can buy a used neon tranny for around $300 or since you mentioned making it faster, I would suggest swapping in a manual transmission. All the parts can be bought for around $500. That will make you neon quicker to start off with.
