Spark plugs

I bought Bosch Platinum 2+ spark plugs for my 99 blazer about 3k miles ago ( i know i shouldnt of bought them but it was before i found this forum). The packaging said that they were pre gapped. Well since i have heard all these bad things about them on here i decided to take one out and see what it looks like. The plug doesnt look to bad. One thing i saw though was that the gap was very small. When i put it on my gapper tool is showed about .02 . The haynes manual says they should be .06 . Are the 2 pronged spark plugs not supposed to be the same gap as single pronged?? Should i regap them all to be .06?

Go get some AC Delco platinums and get it over with.

I havnt had any problems with the plug after 3k miles of use. Only real problem i have had is low gas mileage. That's why i figured i would check out one of the plugs and thats when i noticed the gap size. I just dont want to go out and buy a whole new set of plugs when mine are working fine. I was just wondering if the gap size could be lowering my gas mileage.

After 10k kilometers of use on my truck's previous owner's bosch 4s I had one or two cylinders not firing, and the rest blackened and sooty.

Replace them with AC delco plats or rapidfires (I prefer the rapid fires personally).

Do you use the plats or the rapids LT? I've heard a lot of good about the rapidfires, especially for us northerners.

Switch to AC Delco plugs. Your blazer will thank you for it. Not to mention the money you'll save on Extra Strength Tylenol.

There's a reason everyone is telling you to switch. Those plugs will cause you trouble, they do not work well in our Blazers, and they will cause problems down the road. Save yourself alot of headache and extra work and go ahead and replace them.

I'm still not clear here. Are you all recommending the Bosch spark plugs? :grinno:

I can recommend Bosch Supers (Copper plugs) and standard Bosch Platinums. But the +2/3/4 varieties are plain old junk in our engines. THe reason why *I* like the plain old Bosch Supers in my '95 is because for the same heat range and engine application that the standard AC/Delco plug cross-references for - the Bosch are a full 1/4" shorter! Just the trick for getting the #3 plug swapped out with only one skinned knuckle. :D

Don't forget the amount of people that have had problems with the standard Bosch plat's as well wolfox.

They still misfire like crazy.

has anyone had problems with Autolites? The local Advance store stopped stocking the AC Delco plugs for my truck so I used Autolites last tuneup. I have used them on other vehicles but I notice a slight misfire when the engine is hot. Not bad, but not something I have not been able to diagnose.

Autolites don't waork exactly well with GMs for some reason. They do work great for fords though.

From what I have heard from my friend, they don't last to long and tend to wear out really fast.

autolites are shit in GM. Parts stores sell them because they provide some nice perks for the reps behind the counter (ie whoever sells the most, or meets a certain quota gets a trip to Mexico).

Well I hate to change out a fairly new set of platinum plugs, but, perhaps worth a try. I no longer have a stalling problem, just a minor skip/miss when hot at idle. Maybe plugs misfiring. Guess I will have to buy plugs elsewhere, ditto on wires(schmucks no longer stock AC Delco wires either for my truck.) I suppose I could have them special order them but damn, should not have too.

Bought AC Delco wires from my Dealership for 35.00, that was the wholesale price, list would be about 25% more, but the wires fit.

Yea, the wires with the 90 degree cap connections are actually quite cheap.

How old is your cap and rotor?

Wires are more than likely fine.

Just get those AC Delco plats in there.
