I Just purchased a 95 Jetta GLS for my Daughter. Every morning and when it sits for a few hours it takes forever to start. It turns over and stalls at least 10 times. Once started it runs great and easily starts again when running a few minutes. I replaced the plugs, wires, coil, distributor, & fuel filter. I put in fuel injector cleaner and dry gas. Now my mechanic thinks it's a coolant temp sensor. Any ideas before I have to replace the battery and starter? :banghead:

Try spraying some starter spray in the intake when you first start it. If this helps, it's likely your fuel supply. Check the pressure. Maybe the temp sensor is the problem and it's telling the computer that the engine is warm even when it isn't. A bad sensor should be able to be tested without having to replace it, though having a dealer test it may be more expensive. good luck
