3 months ago I had new brake shoes put on my truck...2 months later I started hearing a grinding noise at times that would stop if I slightly tapped the brake. It has now gotten worse and sometimes feels as if the front brakes are being pressed when in fact they are not...I had it in the dealership last week for an unrelated check engine light so they checked it out and stated that my pads were almost gone.
What would have caused this? ...Did they not get installed correctly and have been rubbing ever since I had them installed.? also note I have no ABS lights on or anything.. If they were installed incorrectly I certainly don't want to take back to same place to get fixed.. :disappoin

How old is the truck? It's possible that your calipers are sticking, that they used inferior pads, or that they installed them incorrectly. I'd take a look at them, and definitely avoid going to the same place again.

Check your rear drums, the could be caked with brake dust causing the front brakes to be doing all the work. Had it happen on my 99. The front was doing about 90% of the braking because brake dust was built up in the rear.

Thanks for the tips...It is a 1998 4wd 1500....Point above could be the issue..cause they didn't even look at the drums when I had them changed..all they did was change the front pads...Im gonna take to another shop this week and have them look at it...
another note my check engine light issue was a speed sensor for the transmission..had tran serviced at the same time they changed the sensor..
