'04 Child Locks

I have an '04 Grand Prix GT. All ads I read for used ones list child safety locks as standard. Is there something I'm missing? There are no switches in the rear door jams, and I see no way of engaging any type of safety locks for the rear doors. Can anyone enlighten me?

That's because the 04 doesn't have them. :dunno: See link below:

Thanks for the link. I wonder why most of the option lists that I've read for these cars list "child safety locks". A buddy on the Yamaha forum was asking the same question, as he was looking at a used '04 and it was listed on that vehicle also.

You're welcome. I see your point. I've seen that too on web listings which state child safety locks are standard but it appears to be erroneous. I know if you go to the www.pontiac.com web site the locks are not listed as standard equipment or an option. It doesn't make sense because you have those new wider opening 82 degree rear doors. It makes you wonder what GM was thinking about when these were left out. In my case its no big deal since all my kids are 17 y.o. or older. :dunno:

And then you are trying to keep them OUT of the car, not in it ;)

Just a theory, but since child saftey locks are standard on most cars, maybe the people writing these ads just lists them assuming that have them, so it can sound like the car has more features.

lol. :lol2: That's for sure. When the boys ask can I have the keys to the GTP I beat around the bush or change the subject real fast.

I ran across something else interesting on GM models like the Buick LaCrosse and Lucerne. They make no mention of door child safety locks but there's something about child safety seat retainers? Makes you wonder if the safety locks were discontinued on all new GM cars. :dunno:

Our GP has the child safety seat tether anchors also.

Maybe thats what they are referring to now. GM first starting putting the child safety seat anchors in 2001 and up models. Our '02 Alero GL2 has the child seat anchors and child safety locks. Also on the rear window quarter panel of the rear doors GM clearly marks whether you have child safety locks "This vehicle is equipped with Child Safety Locks". While upgrading the rear speakers, my son thought the seat anchors were for some sort of package net that the dealer short changed us on.
