hi all. about a month ago i bought the Viper 791XV and for a time all was well. unfortunately, my remote has ceased to work. i tried replacing the battery and instead of the gay little tune i get nothing at all. I have no clue as to what happened but I know the alarm itself works fine just the remote is dead. is there a website i can go to for these guys (ive googled it and got nothing) or a phone number to call (the one on the remote is just a seller locator)
I would really like to go off on someone b/c if i spend 600 on alarm, the dam remote shouldnt die a month later.....
anyhoo, any info will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Paul

did you install it yourself?

i got the 791xv installed by a shop in town and the remote died like 10 months later. luckily it was still under warranty, took it back, they replaced the remote and even teh brain. too bad the f'ed up the sensors, still trying to work with them to fix the problem.

no, I work @ the Geek Squad so it was installed @ bestBuy.
I'll probabally just talk to the managers today to get it replaced.
I still would like to get a number or website for these guys..

the website for viper is, www.directed.com. viper is a sub company (it that's what you call it) of Directed. Look on the left hand side of the page to go to VIper products. Good luck with finding a phone number on the webpage. i spent half a day looking for a number when i was having problems. ended up sending them an email, a month later they forwarded my email to the shop and the shop manager called me.

1-800-753-0800 should be the technical support line, but I wouldn't bother with it. Sounds like you've just got a dead remote and should just get it replaced. The LCD screen remotes had a run of remotes that just up and died. If it's been within a year of your purchase, then the remote should be covered under warranty. The alarm system itself has the limited lifetime warranty, but DEI doesn't really advertise that their remotes only have a year warranty.

I see it's been a while, but this describes pretty much what happened to me today. My system is less than 2 months old , battery was very low so I took old one out ,put new one in and nothing,I tested and tried several still nothing. There is a picture made in compartment so it's nearly impossible to get polarity wrong. I checked inside to make certain contacts were not damaged or out of place or broken, looks perfect. Does anyone know if there is a reset or another memory battery that could be bad. HELP!!! Thanks for visit.
