94 corolla heater core has anybody ever done one of these and how hard is it? The car comes equipped with a/c also but I dont think that will make a difference. Does the dash have to come out or not? Thanks

did you ever start on replacing that heater core? I nave tne same problem on my '94 Corolla as well. I have priced a repair from different garages which averaged about 700-1000. I started taking the bottom of the dash apart to expose the heater box and A/C box. The heater core is right behind the radio, etc. I have not pursued it any farther. I put the dash back together. I looked in my Chilton's manual and the section on the heater core replacement has very limited info. One mechanic told me his "labor-time-guides" specified 8.5 hours to do the job. I am curious as to whether you attempted the repair or not.
Thanks
Thanks

lies it has never taken me 8.5 hours to do a heater core.hahahaha it is 3 hours tops with ac if you have no ac shave off an hour from that time. they are soo ripping you off. i have it listed on my repair reference guide as 2.8 hours. besides its sooo easy to do yourself just remove the hoses from the pipes under the hood and romove all the pieces around the heater unit and LABEL any connection then simply drop the unit and remove the core its not hard just time consuming to label and unscrew everything. seriouskly its about an hour to drop it out and around an 10 min to clean heater unit and put in new core and about 45 min to put back together. if you need step by step info i can post it here just let me know.

Hey kronkonn,
Yes, PLEASE post the steps!
I may have to do this for my 95 tercel. I'm not sure if the steps will an exact match, but I'm assuming they are simliar enough that I can get a clear picture.
