okay, I have a 1988 camaro, v6 TBI. I put a new fuel filter on it and it seems as though around the same time i put it on, i started getting worse gas mileage. i used to get about 270 per tank. now im just getting 230 or 225 per tank. I dont know if a backwards fuel filter will do that or not. please help.

Well if the filter is backwards it won't get the fuel flow that it needs but i would think that you just need a full tuneup.

If the fittings are anything like other cars I've seen, there's no way you could install it backwards short of cutting off and replacing the fittings on each end :eek7:
I'd look somewhere else.
Go get a scan and see if any codes show up, I thought it was my fuel filter giving me 12mpg, but turns out it was the EGR valve(which I still haven't gotten around to replacing :disappoin )

If it is the gm filter with the same fittings on both ends they will have a arrow to should you the fuel flow direction. But I dought that being on backwards would be your problem.
