hey guys...new to the forums..I got a 86 crx hf the other day with the 1.5 carburator in it....not familiar with carburators at all so loking for some advise..the car runs fine when its moving but when I put my foot on the clutch it stalls and shuts off.....just wondering if someone can give me some advise on what to do to fix it...so far I have put a brand new exhaust on it, replaced the cap, rotor, spark plugs, wires, changed all the fluids and it has a new air filter.........any help would be greatly appriciated

cool i did a spray test today to the outside of the carb and its trasted idel went up to 4k and so i said its time to get another one, i found a weber kit http://www.carburetion.com/weber/Dataresults3.asp?Kit_Nbr=K726&Model=CIVIC

but no price posted and then i found this place that has cheap carbs

you will need all the gaskets and the plate. you don't need a new carb. replace the gaskets. i had an 83 civic first edition crx. same motor. alls you need is the gaskets. take it to a carb shop and tell them to rebuild it. the reason you are stalling is because your not getting any gas. carbs rely on suction. you might not even need it rebuilt. i just replaced gaskets and it worked fine try that first.

rebuild here is about 250 and i have to pull it myself. and this also means that i have a old rebuild carb that seems to have nothing but leaks on every where. where can i grab the gasket kit only for this carb.. i would feel better getting a carb with a sound warenty from carb exchange
also im getting to send them my core and help out the system. to keep things cheap. in chicago no one can be trusted.

ok buy the gaskets and the metal under plate. buy a carb mount and aline it and if it doesn't start adjust on the read of the car the amount of fuel going in. you are going to need a timing light to make sure your timing is correct and your not misfiring aswell. civic's/crx's timing is very delicate and a carb swap might upset it and make it misfire

oh yeah btw how hard is it to build a rock soild carb?
i would think to a novice it might take a day. and thats time i dont have. but it is much cheaper, i dont think i can do it. Anyone reading this from chicago? wanna help out?

carbs are actually pretty simple inside and out. get a chiltons manual or a hanes they'll give you direct info on how to do this. some tools may be required
