My transmission is acting up and i dont know why. the problem only occurs when i floor it. i drive at normal speed and when i want to go fast the transmission seems to shift into neutral because the engine is reving high but the car isnt moving. i have to wait for the rpms to drop and then the transmission shifts back into gear. does anyone know what could be the problem? also i still need to change my tranny oil if this helps

If you are putting oil in there, that's your problem.
I would say it's a possible torque converter problem, but I'm no tranny expert.

Your tranny is slipping. This is bad.
Replace your filter and fluid. www.plymouthlaser.com has good info to follow.
If this isn't the problem, post back.

if you change the fluid and filter and the problem doesn't go away i'm thinkin your tranny is fucked. sounds to me the seals can't hold the high pressure when you want to go fast but i'm also no tranny expert, that's just what i've experienced before.

you might possibly find that changing your fluid actually makes it WORSE. The tranny fluid thats in it now is dirty and causes more friction which helps the clutch disc grip better. If you change your fluid there is no dirt in the fluid, thus causing little to NO friction and your car wont move AT ALL (maybe a little) because the clutch disc doesn't have any friction because it is so worn and the tranny fluid is so clean. (If your clutch disc is worn enough) however this may not be your problem, but be cautious when changing it. If it has a very metallic color (dark brown) and smells like burnt shit(nasty) then i wouldn't change the fluid, i would have a mechanic look at it first.
I have seen this happen before.

I've also seen this same situation MANY times. And I agree with Black97GST. Check your fluid. Then if there is fluid in there but you're still having a problem, take it to a shop. It's only a matter of time until it'll stop working completely. if you don't get it checked soon, you'll be stuck at an intersection revving the engine in drive but not going anywhere.
Good luck

I had a chance to actually change the fluid and filter last night. the fluid was a a little brown, but the thing that scared me the most was when i first took the pan off. I saw pieces of metal, but I found out that it was pieces of a magnet. i dont know how or why the magnet was broken into a million pieces. changed the fluid and filter and prayed that it would move. I've heard of the transmission not working as great after you changed the fluid, but nothing happened on mine. It was great no problems at all!!!!!!! even better than before of course.

There's supposed to be a magnet in the corner of the pan to collect loose metal shavings. I think.
