b16a to b18c swap?????

i've been looking into swapping my motor for quite some time now, and i am about 80% sure i want to go with a b18c1 out of the gsr (the other 20% is leaning towards a K series enigine, but i think that is more work and $ than i want to sink into it, with very similar results to a b18)......however i have a few questions regarding the swap i hope someone can help me with

1. past the engine, what all do i need to buy to complete the swap (i've read tranny, ecu, shift linkage, axels and mounts - is there anything else?)

2. do i need to buy a new alternator and distributor?

3. i know the linkage that came in my '00 Si will work when i swap in the b18, but what about the tranny and axels???

4. will the mounts for either my b16, or the mounts that come on the b18 work, or will i have to buy a mounting kit?

any information you can give me would be extreamly helpful and much appreciated

also if you have any other information or suggestions regarding the swap, please post.

thanx

why are you swapping out your engine? what specific engine are you refering to? the answers depend on whether you are going obd1 or obd2? also, a search will yield you more detailed answers ;)

why get rid of a b16 for a b18??

and btw the redline on a B18C1 is 8200rpm....

You are the stupidest person alive if you're going to spend thousands of dollars for an engine with 10 more hp. Spend the money on a turbo for the b16.

all you need to swap in the B18C is a long block. Everything else from the b16 will work with it.

not exactly.

assuming this is an obd2 b18c1 block. you will need the intake mani and rewire two wires for IAB. also, if you use yhe P2t you will throw a cel for the IAB. get a P72.

if you go with an obd1 b18c1, things get a little more complex.

this is something i've always wondered, will the B16 IM work on a B18C? Having the secondary intake runners are nice and all, but there are like just eh for me lol.

no, the b16 IM will not bolt on the b18c1. it will bolt on to the b18c5 though.

That's really not that stupid.

Jumping on the turbo bandwagon is not always the right answer either.

A K series swap will run you in the ballbark of $9k to have it done correcltly.

Turbo bandwagon? How is it a bandwagon if it's the only real way to make power out of a four cylinder engine? I'd rather jump on that bandwagon than spend a down payment on a house for an engine that only has 40 more hp.. That money could also buy him a used Z28 which will run faster stock than the K-series Honda will ever see

and look fucking good doing it.

I like my little honda gokart but its night and day from my ls1.

i'd have to spend another 2K to get into 11s for the honda. half that for a still cozy relbiable DD on the ls1.

BTW a 15 PSI honda doesn't have too much room to grow a bolt on LS1 does.

If I had a b16 i'd swap blocks out 1.6 is too damn small. 1.9L sounds yummy :naughty:

So you would rather spend a down payment, making a honda run 10's? Go for it. I can think of plenty of other cars out there that I would rather buy that run that quick, than spend the money to make a honda go that fast.

Swapping a B18C into his Si would cost a paycheck for parts, and another half for labor.
