Anyone else with Bad Glass?

The back glass on my Hyundai shattered over night a couple of days ago and their was no evidence of vandalism and the likelihood of such an act was improbably at best. Many of the auto glass repair places I called all told me that sometimes glass just breaks. Sometimes it's due to manufacturing flaws, defective elements in the defrost, or inability to handle temperature change.

The Hyundai service department has, apparently, never heard of this. They claim that such incidents never happen and that it could have only been vandals or some such other act of anyone but them.

Anyone else out there with broken glass issues? I'd really like to see how common this might be and how often people just assume that it was ski-masked bandits in the night creating havok.

yes, theives usually break side windows. Its possible it was an act of vandelism, it happens.
Proving its defective glass is imo nearly impossible, so its an insurance claim.

A quick change in pressure will do it, a friend of mine that hauled cars had to roll the windows down a little in all the cars b/c when he would go through places like in Az. the windows would break in the cars if the pressure got too great. so it could very well be the weather that caused it.
Also, where did most of the glass go, inside the car or outside?? If more went in and all over the place in the car it was vandalized, if more is on the outside, or is not spead around inside the car as much, it had to be the pressure.

My dad's 96 Ford Windstar GL has an isue of the back glass randomly shatterin out for NO reason, it happened to me and him just driving down the road once, and it happened again about three weeks after we got the glass replaced as we were getting out of it at a local grocery store and it's happened once more ironically right when we pulled up to our favorite custom shop to get the windows tinted, after we took it back to the dealership for the third time in less than a month and a half they blamed the back hatch for it and replaced it and we haven't had to replace the glass back there since!!!! So it is very possible. Unfortunaly The Ford Motor Company didn't think of reimbursing us for the 1,500+ dollars we had to put into glass alone........Gee you got to love fords.
