Grinding noise when engine running?

97 mirage 1.5l 91k a/t needs a new IAC and timing belt. I noticed a new noise yesterday that hasnt been there before. While the car is running idle all through the rev range there was a constant squeek/squeel. Now today theres a bad grinding noise and sensation that can be felt throughout the car and gas pedal. My guess is a pulley is shot. What do you guys think?

Possibly bad water pump or the vibration damper is coming apart.

It turned out to be the a/c clutch grinding into place. When I turned on the a/c and the defroster the clutch would start grinding. And once I turned it off, it took a couple of rev cycles get it to stop. But all is better now. Thank you for the response.
