Hello everyone,
I need to know what is everyone's opinion on customizing the interior of a 98 grand prix. I want to paint the dash board either black or maybe white. I have a silver grand prix.
What is the best method on painting the interior and making it last a long time too?

Well seeing that the dash is padded, I would say that part is not paintable. But you can get that from a bone yard. The paint would have to be some the sun doesn't change colors. Check with a body shop on that.
Good luck.
Thanks Bob and Dad for the help.

Don't paint the top of the dash white, it will reflect onto the windshield and blind you. That is why you don't see dashboards in light colors from the factory. You can get away with the cluster bezel, console, etc... just not the horizontal surface. The make specific vinyl paint that should hold up, just be sure to wax it after it cures to help keep it from rubbing off. Welcome back Jim, we've missed you. We all hope you're feeling better.

My fault! I didn't mean the dashboard... I don't know what I was thinking. I forgot the name, people always paint them some color and it is a big piece that's removable on the drivers side. It's plastic and very smooth. Maybe it's called the console.

Welcome back Jim.
Same here good to see your back.
As far as painting the dash goes I think theres some kind of dye designed just for that.

The dash bezel (it goes around the guages, radio and heater controls) can be painted any color you wish. Just make sure you use wax and grease remover to get any protectant residue/finger prints, etc... off and lightly sand the surface to give the paint something to stick to.
