Best Bang for the $$$ 411!!!

Okay people please help me out again, i need everyones opinion on whitch is the better deal. I'm helping a close friend of mine look for a car, its gona be their car through out collage, so i need the most reliable, most gas efficiant, best car money can buy. She has bout 6k to spend, and only 6k to spend. Looks dont matter, brand dont matter, nothing matters point of car is to trasport her from point A to point B. She dosent care anything is better then her current ancient P.O.S. car.

I was looking sumthing between a corolla, a sentra, a civic hatch, anything american, mazda, name it its considered. Im leaning tuwards a corolla currently, she would like 95' atleast so with 6k a corolla would have the lowest milage i suppose.

why not try a hyundai accent? or kia? those things are cheap as hell and are light as hell.
