Going from a 98 to a 01 GT

I might be purchasing an 01/02 gt since the 96 cobra i wanted to buy turned out to be just a gt with cobra bumpers and hood. I was wondering just how much of a difference they have in the handling/performance and ride department (the 98gt and the 01/02 gt that is). If anybody has any input it would be greatly appreciated.THX

it should be a lot faster and handle a little better. heres some stats for 99-04 gt's http://www.modernracer.com/mustanggt.html

i'd just put better heads on the 98 and get a better suspention for it

It sould be cheaper to just build the 98

yea it would be cheaper to build up the 98. but if u like the new style better or want a newer car or whatever then get the 01

yea its not just about my current stang not being fast enough. I just would rather have a newer car since my current one has over 100k miles on it and all those miles are starting to take their toll. Plus I do like the newer body style quite a bit.

If you go the 5 speed route the transmission in the 02 and up can be a PIA. The 3650 has had a ton of TSBs for a reason. Hell I have 60K on mine it’s been rebuilt once already and now the throw out bearing is stating to squeal.

I have it narrowed down to 2 stangs near where I live, a sexy blue 2001 with about 20k miles and a silver 02(not sure if it has the newer tranny since I think they changed it halfway through the model year) with about 40k miles. Both of these have their ups and downs but I'm pretty sure im gonna go with the blue one since I love the color.

Got to love the blue

But I will tell you it shows dirt worse than black. The blue purl and mettle flake make it look purple in certain light and when it’s dirty.

cars are the oppsite of clotes where clothes show dirt on lighter colors cars do the oppsite, they show dirt on dark colors, friend of mine had a black car you could wash it and after driving around the block you could see dirt on it again, it was terrible

That pic of my Cobra was taken after 5 coats of Zaino and less than 10min later it was green from tree pollen.
Blue Cobra + Yellow Oak pollen = chainsaw time
Not really I would be sleeping in the car if I did that but you get the point
