Lifter tick

I don't know if anyone else has experienced this, but my lifter tick seems to be very tempermental. Some days it will show up in a fury, making my car sound like it should be on riverdance tap-dancing, and other days(like today) it will be completely silent. This just occured to me while I was driving home, but I was thinking that the temperature might have something to do with it. When it gets cold outside, it will stop ticking, but when it's hot it'll tick away. Anyone else notice this?

Mine's pretty tempermental too, though I don't think it has much to do with temperature...all I know is when I use that 6 cylinder engine restore in-a-can crap it goes away for 3000 miles.

Yeah, that's the stuff. I think all it does is possibly change the properties of the oil, there's no way it fills out wear in the cylinders. My teacher, who is the man when it comes to cars, makes fun of it all the time...but it's the only thing that gets rid of my lifter tick, so I still use it.
