I have a 99 Ford Taurus that is stalling when at a stop. The check engine light is on but that was on before the car was stalling. The car does fine in all speeds, shifts well and otherwise runs great. Had tranny replaced last year and tune-ups have been done on time. Could this be a fuel filter maybe or any other ideas? Thanks for the help in advance.

Have the codes read. Maybe they indicate a problem that has been getting progressively worse and now causes the car to stall. Many chain auto parts stores will read the codes at no charge. You just have to put up with them trying to sell you parts to fix the problem.
Does the car stall as you apply the brakes and begin to slow, does it stall only once you're completely stopped, does it run for a few seconds after you completely stop, then die? Does it do anything funny before dieing, like start to buck and shake?
What happens if you shift to neutral as you come to a stop? Any change?
