Would suggest you check crank sensor. It advises your car WHEN to fire, and then move on from there. It may be firing, but not ontime and you still may not have enough spark to start if your ignition module is weak. Please advise engine type and type of fuel injection so I and other folks can advise further. Does it have multi port injection or throttle body? 4 or 6 cyl?

I would pick up a Haynes manual to help out on this. Not as much imformation as a GM manual but very helpful on this type of stuff. Since it won't fire with starting fluid I am pretty sure it is one or both of the parts I mentioned. Pick one up at Advance Auto. The ignition module on yours should be on the backside of the motor, with two coilpacks sitting on it. Has to be removed as one assmebly. The crank sensor should be in the front of motor. Book would make it easier to deal with. If you have ruled out fuel, not too much else it could be. I have seen ignition switches cause this on other GM's such as Blazers, but have not seen it on Berettas/Corsicas. Check Advance Auto web site to get a look at these parts I mentioned.

the same car i had a 94 with a 2.2, ahh lets see, sounds like the same problem i had.

what i had to do was check the ICS, also know as the idle control sensor or valve in some cases, which sits on the back side of ur throttle body. if that does not open while u crank the motor, it will not let the engine start.( that ICS opens up to allow air to be sucked into ur motor when u are cranking the engine. When ur engine is on, it closes, because the vacuum that is caused inside of the engine pulls air through ur intake tube which is connected to ur airbox).if it opens up, then u need to check the fuel pressure regulator. what that does is it has a plunger inside, which goes up and down, and controls the pressure of how much fuel ur engine needs. if that regulator doesnt work properly, it will not allow ur engine to get fuel. that will sit on the right side when looking at ur engine, of ur fuel rail. which urs being a 2.2 will only have 1. that rail sits directly below ur intake plenum (throttle body butterfly). If these 2 options do not help you, please by all means come to the below website for any other help. we will be glad to help you.
