Hi All,

I am having the common problem of the blower fan staying on in my Grandmothers 1988 LeSabre Limited. Is this one controlled by a relay or is it the blower control module. Also, any idea where the location is on the 1988?

Thanks all!

In 1988, all you have is a relay. The blower control module was introduced in 1992.

You'll find the bad relay under a rain guard on the engine firewall.

Great thanks. I will have to check this out tonight. I thought I looked pretty good for a relay and didnt see one. Hopefully it is hiding behind some other wires.

Appreciate the help.

Yes, if you have automatic air (what we use to call it) you have a power control module that goes bad and leaves the blower running (hot short) even with the ignition off. The location should be on top of the blower control plenum under the hood. You do need to remove the relay cover and you'll see the module with 3 screws mounted on top of the plenum. All automatic systems use this type of module one way or the other. It's different than the manual system which has a simple blower resistor, and may I say much cheaper. Go over to rockauto.com and check the prices, I guarantee they have original delco products about a third of the cost of dealers. Good Luck!

Thanks for the tip. Not sure if I found the right thing. Does it have 2 big plugs on top? On my car, this thing is right behind the where all the positive connections meet.

Let me know.

Thanks

Yeah you got it!
Check out the prices on rockauto.com for this module. It beats the dealer by about 2/3rds. Good Luck!
