Well #@%! My 98 Lesabre with about 90,000 miles on it started to get a belt(or alternater, hard to tell) squeek a few days ago.
Then late one night driving home from the airport I couldn't find a gas station open and gastank must have been on fumes. So then the CHECK ENGINE light comes on. I suppose this was because the fuel got so low.
Well anyways was going to put in in the shop this weekend BUT!
I go to the store this morning and as i get out I notice a liquid trail. Looks like milky oil or tranny fluid.
So I get back in the car to return home only to have the tranny quit working some smoke came out from under the hood.
All I can see is some water or condensation around where the engine and tranny meet.
Should I even try to put some transmission fluid in it for a test?Or send it to repair shop :crying:

Ok I cranked it back up and I noticed there's a little capped fitting that is spilling out trans. fluid. I thought it's loose but the cap just spins around. Is this some type of relief valve or anybody know?
I think its the breather? It looks like #5 on this diagram ( about the size of a pencil eraser) LOL

Yeh, breather, this indicates an internal problem. You said it is milky not red? Either way this is not a "dyer"

Well the mechanic estimate is $2300 to rebuild it.

I got a used tranny from the bone yard for 430.00 and put it in myself.
After new seals, engine oil pan gasket (easier to replace without tranny in the way), fluid, filter, all said and done for around 500.00.
