Remote Start...Good Idea or Bad?

Hello All:
I woke up this morning, and my Aurora started and got me to my destination....without any problems, so today is looking pretty good so far.
I was thinking in this nice and cold climate I reside in, about getting remote start. I knew a friend who had a Cadillac Eldorado and when he put the remote start on, the problems seem to start.
Any one have any wisdom on this?
Thanks for the information in advance!

I just had one put in my 96 Aurora 2 weeks ago. No problems so far. Just make sure you go to someone who knows what they are doing. There is nothing better than getting into a warm car on a cold day !!!

I guess it depends on the condition of the car and who intsalls it some people have said they created some problems and some people say they dont like them because of the fact that the remote start basically forces the car to start and i guess in some instances that could be a problem or harmful to the car

I've had one for 2 years now without any problems. Came with the alarm package that I got from Ziebart. I'm pretty happy with it. FYI -- the seat warmers don't automatically come on, not with my setup anyways.

I bought my aurora with a remote start already in it. When I try to use it, the alarm goes off. Everytime I think I have it figured, the alarm goes off. Now I just don't use it.

Okay, so I have it installed....and it works. Thanks for the tip about the seats....too bad the installer did not know that! My radio does not come on when I remote start it....does anyone else's?
Ryank771- I think I was having the same problem at first.....I had to completely stop using my factory remote and use the remote start remote to unlock and lock the doors. But first, I had to disable the factory remote.
Once I told the installer, he offered a suggestion, but seeing that he did not know about the seats, I figured the Aurora was a little too touchy for his thoughts and not expertise.

Try unlocking the doors with the factory remote first. Then hit your start button.
What has happened is that the original installer did not interface the remote start with the factory alarm disarm wire. The wire is a light green wire under the rear seat by the battery. It requires a negative pulse (ground) when using the remote start. It is a very simple thing to do for a person that knows what they are doing with remote starts. I suggest you take it to a reputable shop and tell them your problem and they will be able to fix it for you.
Good luck,
Don
