new noise

tonight I just noticed a new noise in my 98 Aurora. It is a very slight noise and is coming from the passenger side of the car. Almost like from under the dash, but maybe more forward. It somewhat sounds like a some muffled bolts in a can that have been slowly turned over. If you could imagine a bearing that's missing a few bearings rotating, and the bearing sorta "fall into place"....it's that sorta sound. I turned the air on and off to see if it may be some servos for the climate control, but it hapened when moving slow(at least I can notice it then b/c low road/engine noise). My initial thought is maybe wheel bearing, but it doesn't seem to change as I change speed.

thanks in advance!!

just to add a little to the noise. I can definately hear the noise more at low speeds, but this may be because of engine noise at higher RPM. Also, it seems to be more noticeable when I just hit the gas or let off the brake at low speeds. It almost seems like there is something rattling in a box under the passenger side dash. I can't seem to hear the noise under the hood, but the car obviously isn't moving when I'm looking. Is there anything under there that could slosh around, or rattle??

Anyways...any help is much appreciated.

if you're only hearing it while moving, it's likely to be the wheel bearing. It's a common issues, I had to replace one on my 98. I have a how-to write up for the job if interested, just pm.

I notice the other day when changing my oil. That the body to frame rubber bushing were bad. On the driver side the bottle was totally gone and on the passenger side the top and bottom was gone. I am pretty sure this is were my noise is coming from.. You might want to check into this. I haven’t had time to replace mine yet, but I plan on it.

MATE ! UR SPOT ON !! Actually it's much worse last time i drove week ago, and tomorrow i'm receiving them rubbers in full (ordered at gmpartsdirect).

Thing that sealed it were me reading in service manual: 'blah blah Subframe mount bushings are specifically designes for each position to give best rigidness to structure WHILE REDUCING ROAD NOISE !'

So, THANX FOR HELP !

One q tho - is it dangerous to drive with bad rubbers ? Am i being overprotective not even driving it ?

THANX
