2002 Taurus SES R/V Mirror temp question

:) I just purchased a 2002 Taurus SES and it has a few options that I have not had on any of my previous cars. The Rear View Mirror has the compass and I'm sure it has the temp too because when I turn the car on the mirror flashes 100*F. But I can not figure out how to program the mirror to cycle between the compass and temp. Also I have a button on the dash stereo that says shuffle disc 1-6. I also don't know where that is. New cars are great and frusterating. I am very pleased with the car so far but I have only had it a week :) . Much nicer than the 95 Geo Prizm I blew up to get this. Thanks in advance for any help with this mirror thing it's driving me nuts.

Welcome!! The 6 disc changer will either be mounted in the trunk, or else its in the center console. But just because the stereo has the CD controls does not mean that the CD changer was purchased as an option..... The car is wired for it though, either the wire is in the trunk, or under the center console and all you need to make it work is the 6 disk changer which you can pickup on Ebay. Not sure about the mirror/temp thingy though, mines a 01 and has the temp display on the radio, with no compass. Do you have a "outside temp" button on your climate control display? Good luck with the car, how many miles you got?? Make sure and change the fluid often and filter every 30K miles

I have an '02 SES and am quite sure the R/V mirror only has the compass. Check the owner's manual. I'll be watching to see if someone tells how to get a temp reading out of one.

If the mirror has the capability to display the tmep, you would need a wiring harness that has the temp sensor.

It would then just plug in the back.

THe compas is in the mirror. All of the displays may be made with the temp and not the electronics.

My '02 SES owner's manual mentions only the compass feature.

Thanks for all the replys, I have had a chance to read the owners manual and I too only found the compas function mentioned.

Mwt878991, Is this a wiring harness I can pick up, or is it the whole car's wiring harness? I don't feal that ambitious :) .

I looked for the CD changer and that must not have been one of the chosen options for this car.

It does have the CellPort option but I can't find the pockets for my phone, all I can find is Motorolla pockets. I will call CellPort when I get a chance.

If the mirror has the capibility to do the temp also then there is a wiring harness that would plug in the back . It would power the mirror and also have the inputs for a temp sensor.

I don't know if it has the capibility or not.

I bought a 2002 Taurus wagon the other day and we did not get a manual (well the one in the car is a 1999 manual, some info is good for our car..) and it has loads of options I have never seen before too.

Trying to open the tailgate I set off an alarm I didn't know it had.. dealers failed to mention that!! Also no key fob and just one key given..so I have been reading this forum to gain information and you guys are fantastic!! :iceslolan

Reading this thread, I went to look in our rear section (dealers said cassette no mention of a cd player) and sure enough in it's own compartment is a cd pack.. I opened it put in some cd's and they play woohoo I am on cloud nine.. I wonder how long I would have owned the car not knowing anything about that if it wasn't for this forum!

Now.. what will happen if I press the pedal button..?? after setting the alarm off I am too nervous to touch anything! :nono:

Forgot to add.. I too saw 100F on my r/v mirror today.. I think it was when I pressed the compass button to turn it off.. and driving at night the r/v mirror darkened..so only the lights were visible( like the old adjusting of the mirror to lessen glare) so I pressed mirror button and it became clear again..??
