My 97 xlt is leaking fuel at fill up. Leak seems to be in the tank filler hose connection to the tank. Is there a way to replace without dropping the tank?

it is very is to remove the bed, i usually remove the bed when i have to get to the fuel pump.with the bed off the filler hose can be easily replaced.although i would suspect the grommet thats on the fuel tank, which is basically like a gasket.they usually are the source of a leak rather than the tank or the filler neck. i think there are only for bolts for the bed , and disconnect the connections for the rear lights, and have an assistant or two help you lift the bed up and out of the way.

I recently replaced the sender/pump unit on a 94. I took a look at lifting the bed, but chickened out.
Dropped the tank. That part went OK. But trying to reuse the old filler assembly beat me up badly.
I ended up buying a new filler assembly ... quite a few bucks. But the new hoses on the filler assembly were very pliable and it "fell into place".
Since I work by myself, this was probably the best plan for me.
