Is it possible to put parts for a neon 2.4L in a 2.4L Stratus motor, or can engines be swap with an srt-4?

you can do a cross reference on like autozone, and see if #'s match up to what you want to swap.

Parts, i think you will need a whole new transmission for that one. Are you tring to convert a auto to an auto w/ and autostick? Is that correct?

You will need the shifter and a new trans control computer. The transmission is the same. You may need to do some extra wiring to connect the shift up/down switches to the contoller. Depending on the year (I did not see it in your post), you may have to have the VIN flashed. Since the Stratus didn't have a factory option for Autostick with the 2.4, you will have to use a V6 trans control computer. Your automatic shift patterns will not match the engine output very well because of the output differences between the two engines. The Automatic shifting may not even be useable and you will have to manually shift almost all of the time.

I still think its a different transmission. automatic transmission have a 4 speend and the auto stick had 5. one more band in the transmission.

Is this a 2-door (Mitsubishi built) Dodge Stratus or a 4-door (Chrysler built) Dodge Stratus? My references are for the Chrysler built Dodge Stratus. The Auto stick is only 4-speed but has 6 possible combinations of forward gearing. 1,2,3,4 (obvious) and 3-TQ locked and 4-TQ locked.

Mine are for the 2 door.

Wait a min......they come down there same assembley(sp) line, they are both american not Mitsubishi built. Both have some electronics and some german influence, but both are more or less the same. same transmissions, the weight is different and a little longer for the 4 doors. just a quick thought.

The 4-door and the convertible are from Chrysler, the 2-door hardtop is Mitsubishi. Both have a 2.4l available but they are totaly different engines. If you check out the v6's the Chrysler built Stratus' have a 2.7l Chrysler engine the 2-door hardtop has a 3.0 liter Mitsu. Some of the parts are the same as per Chrysler spec, I believe that the auto transmissions are all Chrysler, as the Mitsu autos are even more junk the Chryslers.

Now, back to your original question, NO.
You have a Mitsubishi and the SRT and Neon is Chrysler, the parts for the engines do not interchange due to the fact that the engines are NOT related (even though they are both 2.4l in size) or built by the same company. If you had a 4-door... there are possibilities.

No! Some things will interchange. Plug wires will interchange. Plugs will not. the coile pack will interchange. It depends what it is. It just depends. yes you are correct and they are both 2.4. but they do shair simmular things. just a few thing though. Before you do anything, crossreference things before you do it.

That a reach VAMC, I can take 4 plug wires off of my 6 cylinder Jeep and put of them on most any 4 cylinder in the neighborhood.
With a 2-door Stratus you have no support from the Dodge guys because it is built by Mitsubishi and you have no support from the Misubishi Guys because a lot of the parts are mixed Mitsu and Chrysler. I believe the term is "Red Headed Step Child".

NO, I same engine type, not completely different engine. Thats like saying a jeep and a mini cooper. 2 different engines, come to think of it, that may work in that case because the distence. We are just talking about the same engine cofig. on this one.

Not true the 2.7 is also a Mitsubishi Motor

If I recall correctly the only thing on the Stratus that is Mits is the motor. I believe the rest of the car is Chrysler. Not sure if the 2.4 is the 4g64 or not (would check but girlfriend is at work), but if so that is also a Mitsu motor. Check to see where the car was made at. If it was made in Normal, Illinois that mitsu did not make it

The location in Normal Ill is the location of the DiamondStar plant that built the 2-doors. That plant was a joint venture Chrysler/Mitsu but Chrysler sold it in whole to Mitsu a few years back.

Then if they are produced there than there is a pretty good chance that mits produces the stratus there because that is the same plant that they produce the Eclipses in.
