I want upgrade the exhaust on my 2000 GP GT and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions? I am looking for something with the best of three worlds- Looks, Sound, and of course performance. I would like it to be kind of a low tone, throtty sound. Not like these high pitched rice-burners you hear ten miles away, lol. Could I achieve my goal by just swaping mufflers, or should I go with a whole new system? Please give me some brands? Thanks.

You could achieve your goal by just changing the mufflers, Flowmasters sound great and there are others. If you want additional performance and have some money to spend you can go with a whole cat back system or if you really want to get fancy go with a set of headers either TOG or SLP and a complete cat back system. Borla is the one that comes to mind but there are others. Your choice just depends on how much money you have to spend.

I also noticed there is basically three mufflers under there. Would anyone suggest to removing that middle inline muffler just after the cat. or should that be left alone?

The middle one is a resonator. I would leave it there, most folks that remove this find that the sound is not nearly as deep with out it. It does not hurt performance and if you wish you can remove it and replace it with a glass pack muffler. I just put one on my GTP and without mufflers it sounds awesome. I haven't had time to put the pipes and mufflers on yet.

I have a 2000 GP GT as well, and I changed to Dynomax SuperTurbo mufflers, and I am pleased. The outside noise is ok, it's not high pitched, and they sound good... nothing like a rice burner... but it's not TOO loud.. I would have liked it better if it were louder.
As for the Glasspack, I was thinking of doing that as well (it was GTP Dad that gave me the idea) but I listened to some sound clips online, and to me it sounded like on deceleration the car whistled.. so I didn't do anything yet.
But SuperTurbos are a nice choice, you can find them for like $70 each online.. I think that's what I paid.

I was wondering where you found those online sounds? It would be great to hear it before doing it?
