So i was stopping at my girlfriends house and then this guy i kinda know pulls up in his Grana Prix GTP... we went to this road and raced and i ended up passin him at like 100 or so then an offduty cop pulls up and says he got our plates and were in trouble. Can we get in trouble for this and if so what do i do??? please any advice is appreciated

Just wait and see. Besides, you wern't driving your car, so your gf can say she wasn't driving the car and she doesn't know who was. Bummer he got your plates, but unless he looked at your license, there isn't a whole lot he can do. Are you sure he's a cop?

He didn't get any more info than the plates? I wouldn't worry. If you're identified as the driver, then I'd start to worry.

I dont if it is just me..but, that didnt make much sense!

Also, if you want some advice, dont race and dont speed.

In a sense it would be good if you do get caught, because some people (myself included) ONLY learn the hard way! It would be better to get arrested now, than later on down the line, killing yourself or someone else while racing!!

Hey, I had to get two tickets (in a 3 month period-and had my liscence for 4 months)...before I slowed the hell down. I believe the only way to learn is the hard way!

Alright, dont drive at those speeds on normal roads.

I'm tempted to say the same thing. We've all done it once or twice, but it's best to not make this a habit.

A good friend is in ICU right now from an accident a week ago. Really, not worth it.

While it might be good for this guy to get caught for street racing. I think that this incident has already taught him a little lesson, and next time he is tempted to race he will think twice.

But how do you resist when a Honda Dodge or some Hundai pulls up next to you and revs up his engine. I mean, I am not buying a turbo car and making it all fast and then not showing off what its capable of against some riced up cars. Besides when the adrenaline hits you its hard not to race. I love street racing even though almost every one out here is against it. Until there are nice and fast cars people will keep racing :).

man, you guys and your turbo cars. Thats one of the reason why I opt not to get a turbo. I'm just not into racing and shit right now.. Especially when its done Illegally. That and the fact that I couldn't afford it. I've gotten enough speeding tickets in my N/T through out the years. But yea, somethang like this happening to my friend. He was actually in a residentual area and a "undercover" cop got him. He told my friend "you'll be getting a house visit" LOL had my friend worried for weeks.

That really sucks man. We all have to learn our lessons somehow though. For me, it took 3 speeding tickets, a police roadblock, a helicopter, and seeing my brother total his car. I definetly learned the hard way also... I guess all you can do is slow it down and wait it all out until you hear something from them. Its too late now to do anything now. If this all does go to court or anything, it will be your word against the cops, and they sure ain't gonna believe yours... Good luck with it all...

Holy shit, did you run?

Yeah, I wouldnt worry about the off duty cop thing. I dont think they have any power when they arent on duty. My friend did a bunch of stupid shit and had an off duty cop follow him until he stopped, then the cop chewed his ass, but he didnt get any ticket. If anything, the off duty guy would tell all his cop buddies to watch out for you. I bet this all depends on your state laws.

I had that same thing. I posted it awhile back. Basically, went racing against another N/T Talon. Lined up in the factories all set to go, and a cop pulls up right behind us. I take off, normally, and so does the other guy. Lights go on, he pulls over, I take off. going home then, a cop pulls out, makes a U-turn, and gets behind me as im doing the limit and driving good, and rides me for like a half mile. I didn't drive bad for 2 months.

They'll be watching you... just don't do anything stupid.

First of all, all you guys with N/T cars shouldnt be sore just because you cant do the kinda stuff we can... youd be doing it too once in a while if you had an EVO III turbo under your hood that makes yer car sound like a plane. And another thing, my friend was racing a turbo talon in his own 2000 eclipse GT about a week ago and my friend pulled at about 110 bad and then shut it down... the talon didnt slow down and then ended up taking a pretty sharp turn at around 80 or so and locked up the brakes and went over a curb 20 feet in the air and then came close to hitting a building and a big CAT rig. The car was totaled i saw it shortly after and im quickly learning shit the hardway..... And i recently also got let off of a 19 over coming home the other night along with warnings for illegally modified exhaust/muffler and illegal tint. The tint thing is cool cuz i now have a thing from my eye doctor but theres no cat on my car and it was cold out so the cop could see how much exhaust was leaving my car.... It was a state boy looking for speeders so i guess i got my one good blessing

Holy shit, did you run?

lol No, the road block was because I would speed (like 90+) everyday on this one highway. So, they finally got me from a helicopter, followed me and then setup a roadblock... It sucked... The good news is that they said i was doing 95, but I know I was well over 100. hehe :iceslolan

Oh yeah, all that was in my Firebird too. So far, the Talon has a clean record. lol... So far...

An off duty cop is a civilian. They can say whatever the hell they want to try to scare you, but he has no legal recourse. If he got your plates (which i doubt) and he reporterd it (which i doubt even more) then the cops might give you an unwritten warning, this is just to try and scare you, i think to prove a point to those assholes you should race even more often and more recklessly.

First off SARCASM, If someone wants to street race then people telling them not to probably wont help. I street race all the time and if someone in my family was killed by street racing things might change, but honestly i think there are worse things a person could do, driving drunk perhaps (have you forgetten the quote in your signature?), I think people need to stop being such pussies about street racing. "Oh you could hurt someone" boo-fucking-hoo, maybe we should all live in plastic bubbles and never do anything that is the slightest bit risky.

But this shit, about street racing is good and we should all do it, is the dumbest thing I have ever read on this forum. Come on man, come to your senses..time to grow up!

Ok... Are you ladies finished arguing yet?

Come on... Can't one of you be the bigger man and just let it go? We've all done and said things that aren't right, but that doesn't mean we have to argue about them forever. If you guys really wanna talk about it, then why not have a civil conversation about it instead of calling each other "fucking retards" "fucking morons" and "fucking dumbasses." You guys tell him to grow up but yet you will sit there and argue with him about it. Why don't you all just grow up and accept the fact that people have always street raced and always will. Theres no stopping it. If someone has to die for them to learn their lesson then let them carry the guilt of it. Can any of you say that you have never street raced? Something like that (killing someone) could happen to any one of us...

I'm just sick of reading every thread with people arguing over stupid shit. I'm not gonna waste my time reading your little drama sessions. I'm here to help as much as I can and learn as much as I can. Not to compare cock sizes or start fights. I said it a long time ago and I'll say it again. Keep the fights on the streets...

dude I hope it all works out for the best man. look we have all had our problem with this street racing thing, I myself find it hard to not school the occasional ricer. so I just want to say why dont they give us somwhere to do this crap! not just a drag strip, that is great and all, but I am talking more like a track track with like turns and all of that.

why should the skaters and bikers and bladers get all of the parks?

Yeah dude, a track isnt exactly easy or cheap to buildn plus they would never get their money back. You could get involved in autocross if you want turny shit or just take it to a local drag strip.

Wow, this was a good read. Kept me entertained for a whole minute.

I do agree there should be more tracks and stuff. But would that really help? More tracks = more racing. More racing (even on the tracks) will lead to more racing on the streets because everyone thinks they're the freakin King of Racing then. There aways has been racing, and always will be racing. Nothing can be done that would make a huge crowd change over to that. Just like smoking... you can't stop until it's too late.

I dont want this to happen of course!, but i have always wondered..... if the speed limit in MOST states is 65, then why not make cars only go like 70 or something? what is the point of making them to go 100+?? I have just always wondered this.

Thats a good point..there really is no reason for a car to reach 150+ mph...but then again you might need it, for example, if you are trying to race to the hospital because your wife is about to give birth! Other than that, I doubt there is really any other reason..GOOD POINT!

Definately a good point, but SHHHHHHHH.

11-20-2005, 02:53 PM
Even if your wife was giving birth, they would still pull you over. An ambulance should be made to go that, but you're only going to get in trouble, even if it is a medical thing.

I think they do it so that the states and government can make more money off of us. Sure, lets make cars that go 150. Since we can do that, we will go that fast. We get tickets, impound the car, whatever. The Man makes money off of us. I try to fight the man, but it fails. lol

That could be part of it nowadays. But, back in the day it was all a competition to build the biggest and fastest cars because the companys knew they would sell more. Think about the muscle car era. All they did was try everything to make cars go faster, quicker. Would any of you want to buy a car with a max speed of 65mph? It was all part of the demand and the demand has gotten completely ridiculous nowadays. I know that I don't need a speedometer that goes up to 160mph... Well, not on the streets at least. lol :iceslolan

gthompson97
11-21-2005, 01:07 AM
i sure as hell wouldn't buy a car that only goes 5 mph over the speed limit. i think if they did that, there would be a dramatic drop in new car sales.
