Rear Window Breakage

I woke up yesterday morning to a broken back window on my Tuscon. Immediately, I considered it the work of vandals, but the house I live in is way off in no man's land and none of the other cars parked near me were touched. The few houses along the street one has to drive to get to the area my car was parked were, likewise unharmed. There was no evidence to indicate what had shattered the glass (no fallen tree branch, no rock, nothing). It was as if the glass had just broken, possibly due to temperature change or a manufacturing flaw. Has anyone else had a similar experience with their vehicle?

That's a new one. I've seen stress cracks in windshields, but never a busted out back window on its own. I have heard of back windows in Blazers beaking when you slam them too hard, but haven't heard of it on a Tucson or Sante Fe at all.

I did some investigating on the subject and called as many auto glass repair places as i could and all of them told me the exact same thing: That happens. Whether due to a manufacturing flaw, extreme temperature change, or defective elements in the defrost, sometimes rear windows just break. Funny thing about it though, no one from Hyundai seems to want to acknowledge what all the glass experts have been telling me.
