I have been repairing this car since day one. I am now faced with a new task. For the past 4 days i've been burning thru pwr steering fluid (2 bottles a day) I would fix it but of course I didn't have the money. Finally it gave and smoke was everywhere. Here's the thing the pwr steering pump is fine by inspect, it looks like the leak (VERY MASSIVE) is on the serpentine side of the engine under the engine area by wheel axle area on the opposite side of the tranny. I really haven't looked at it yet and just frustrasted cuz at work all the time and haven't had time to fix it. please help... you think it may be a line going from the pwr steering pump by the fire wall OR a tie rod thing but why would fluid spray everywhere? please help

Possibly the hose from P/S pump to the rack and pinion

I had an 87 Taurus wagon that had this happen and had to replace the power steering lines. I was primariy losing the fluid on the connection bewteen the metal part of the line and the large rubber line it went into. It comes as a complete unit and seems to me it cost about $100 for the parts and it was a beotch to replace as the lines snake around the engine and over the top of the tranny. Good luck.
