So here's what i'm thinking. the s2k has about 4 inches longer of a wheelbase than the del sol. so, widening the tranny tunnel, putting an s2k rear driveaxle, engine, tranny, taking the fuel tank out and making a new one in the trunk, and a custom driveshaft. anybody else think there'd be anything else that i'd need to add/modify?

To be honest this is a nutty plan
You sound like you know what your talking about though.
I feel its way too much work to bother but if you want to go for it good luck

I would think that converting the car from FWD to RWD would require replacing a lot of crap up front. I mean your talking about gutting an S2000 and putting it in a Del Sol, which makes no sense since S 2000's are damn nice cars too.
Unless your planning on doing custom bodywork and making it a show car, I really dont think the time and money would be worth it. I have seen Del sols in magazines pump out 300+ hp at the wheels. Or hell, if your really good at bioby work, maybe you could put a larger vtec in it that the stock 1.6. I think you'd still save time and money and have a hell of a ride.

i dunno, seemed like a fun idea. a del sol that would have less traction problems and have 237hp stock. are any of the articles on those del sols online? im interested in seeing what they had done....

it'd be spendy, but it would make a good show car! Get ready to drop some serious $$$

just dump an H22 in the rear and call it a day IMO.

The H22 in the rear is the most cost effective and reliable way to do a RWD del Sol and still make decent power. To switch over the S2000 drivetrain you're talking serious money, serious fabrication, and on top of all that, you have to do the wiring to convert from OBDI/OBD2 to the S2000's wiring system (I think it's OBD3 like the RSX and newer civic Si). Basically, it's a lot of money to dump into a car that won't be reliable and will be in the fabrication shop more than anything else.

If you got cash to float, and good body work skills, would it be easier to dress a S2000 like a del sol?

search for it. It's been done a couple of times. go over to www.honda-tech.com and search for RWD del Sol. I'm pretty sure there's a step by step thread over there.

Hell, I say put the S2k motor in the Sol. Challenge yourself. It's not easy, but hey, I've seen a Ford 5.0 in a Geo Storm. If you know what your doing and have the cash, do it. It will be something you can be proud of / brag about, because I sure as hell would.
